Canadian Dental Care Plan

For the moment, the program has been put in place, but several details remain to be worked out, including the reimbursements to patients. As we want to participate in the program, without exposing our patients to certain ambiguous situations, we prefer to wait until these issues are resolved, in order to offer the best possible service to our customers. Thank you for your understanding.

Orthodontics

A Constantly Evolving Line of Work

Several techniques currently exist that can be used to correct improper jaw and mouth positions. Among them, the Invisalign® process attracts a growing number of patients by its simplicity and its efficacy. While new approaches do not replace conventional braces, which continue to offer the best solution to certain issues, they do, however, widen the range of options available in the orthodontics field. Whether a patient wishes to use orthodontics for purely aesthetic reasons or to prevent functional problems, Dr Daniel Martel, Dre Stéphanie Martimbeau and Dre Magalie Houde possess a vast expertise in the matter and are happy to make their knowledge available to you.

Orthodontics for Children and Adults

Orthodontic techniques evolve rapidly and can perform small miracles when it comes to correcting the position of a patient’s teeth or treating jaw alignment issues, aka occlusion problems. While the aesthetic results of these techniques are often impressive in adults and teenagers alike, their main goal is to contribute to the improvement of oral health.

New approaches such as Invisalign® technology, as well as conventional treatments using braces and myofunctional therapy are all part of the range of solutions provided by the experts here at Groupe dentaire La vallée.

Invisalign® Orthodontic Treatment

The Invisalign® treatment is a system of perfected transparent aligners that discreetly straighten their wearer’s teeth. Unlike braces, Invisalign® transparent aligners are removable and practically invisible. No orthodontic brackets are bonded to the teeth, no archwire is held in place. Patients can continue to brush their teeth and use dental floss as usual, eat all their favourite dishes during treatment and keep smiling – business as usual!

Unlike aligners freely available on the market, Invisalign® is a professional approach, provided and supervised by our dentists. It includes the development of a custom digital plan based on digital imaging of your mouth.

Conventional Orthodontic Treatments

Although Invisalign®’s technological advances can treat almost all occlusion problems, certain more complex malocclusions must be corrected using braces. Your dentist may also suggest a hybrid treatment combining both techniques for optimal results.

In short, a productive discussion with our dentists specializing in orthodontics will help you choose the best treatment depending on your situation or that of your child.

Myofunctional Therapy

Orofacial muscles regulate various functions such as deglutition (swallowing) and breathing. When these are dysfunctional, this may have undesired repercussions on phonetics and dental occlusion. Working towards a better balance of orofacial muscles aims at harmonious growth of the upper jaw, or maxilla, and of the lower jaw, or mandible. In turn, this facilitates proper dental positioning in an ideal occlusion.

To achieve this, myofunctional therapy is used, that is to say preventative orthodontics where your child is prescribed a series of exercises that can easily be done at home.

Myofunctional therapy aims at correcting the following:

  • Childhood deglutition (swallowing)
  • Tongue thrust
  • Resting position of the tongue
  • Mouth breathing
  • Hypotonicity and hyperactivity of orofacial muscles
  • Bad habits such as thumb or finger sucking
